The bracket is official and the Major League Baseball Postseason will be underway starting tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2, 2023. The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the American League Central division winners, the Minnesota Twins.

The Toronto Blue Jays managed to slip their way into the playoffs despite losing their game on Saturday. Toronto’s fate heavily relied on the Texas Rangers beating the Seattle Mariners; the Rangers also clinched that night, while pushing the Blue Jays through as well. While thinking the Jays would re-date with Tampa Bay tomorrow, games 162 across the league decided that final seeding.

Blue Jays-Twins Postseason Series: Key Notes

The Blue Jays enter this postseason run with arguably the thickest pitching depth in the chase. From starting pitching with a potential Cy Young candidate to a versatile bullpen, ending with two fire-baller arms as the stoppers, Toronto is well equipped on the bump.

Toronto’s closer role has struggled a bit, and the Jays are attempting to iron out the game plan with both Jordan Romano and Jordan Hicks out of the gate. Quite frankly, both of these guys can get the job done in high-velocity fashion.

The Blue Jays will have to find that feisty offense that the rest of the baseball world expected them to have at the beginning of this season. The big sticks will have to find it, while the role players will have to play the short-game script.

Minnesota are divisional champions, however, they come with a few question marks. Firstly, they have some arms that can compete and will do just that. However, they have a stack of key players on the 10-day injured list with no solid point of return at the moment. That being said, the Twins can push runs, scoring 159 in the past 30 days. The Blue Jays-Twins season series finished at 3-3 while outscoring Toronto in that timeframe. The Twins aren’t a multi-player 30-plus home run team, but are capable of crushing the long ball on a regular basis.

Both teams aren’t high-explosive grit, but they have the tools to make this a tight best-of-three series.

Game 1 will feature RHP Kevin Gausman up against RHP Pablo Lopez.
