Toronto Blue Jays' pitcher Nate Pearson throws a pitch during a game.

The Blue Jays come off a huge series win in the Bronx with a 2-1 takeaway. Toronto returns home to face the Chicago White Sox and the team is now equipped with some extra arm power in the bullpen. The Blue Jays call up right-hander fireballer Nate Pearson to join the relieving staff.

The right-hander has been on a rollercoaster ride to reconstruct his repertoire and overall performance. Constant struggle and aches had Pearson fluctuating in timeline of return, spending a chunk of 2022 on the 60-day injured list. Pearson went on to rehab in the Dominican Winter League for the Tigres del Licey where he pumped out 12 innings giving up five hits, one run, four walks, and 16 strikeouts.

The powerhouse reliever will look to provide an inning or two in relief with the obvious assumption that load management will be in effect. Pearson brings a good arsenal and metrics to the pen with a four-seam heater between 98-100mph, followed by his out-pitch slider at 87mph mixed with a curveball and a changeup.

Pearson will replace RHP Adam Cimber who is now placed on the 15-day injured list due to a rhomboid strain. The Blue Jays faced some challenging work from the bullpen on Saturday’s Yankees matchup late in the game; their hope is that Pearson acts as ammunition and selection towards such scenarios.
