Gaining some eyes in the California Winter League is left-handed pitcher Trevor McGee. The 24-year-old attended Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pennsylvania Western University Clarion.

He has experience in the Northwoods League and the Prospect League. In 2023 he signed a contract with Grand Junction in the Pioneer League but was limited innings and faced vulnerable situations which tarnished his numbers. McGee continued to throw and polish his craft where he crystallized his delivery and power towards the plate, increasing and fluctuating velocities in the 90s.

McGee currently pitches for the Washington Blue Sox in the California Winter League and is turning heads while on the mound. He is currently a free agent and is represented by RINGSZN Baseball Development & Scouting.

SCOUTING SYNOPSIS - Trevor McGee

“Trevor McGee is a stellar southpaw with more to offer than just the general evidentiary numbers and metrics. His makeup and athleticism speak in action off the mound, as he delivers with high intensity and his metrics improves as the outing moves along. He repeats his delivery well and shows excellent mechanics from the ¾ to over-the-top slots.

McGee located his fastball well, using the inner and outer zones, as well as top and bottom shelf. His fastball has bite and looks deceitful up and away to hitters. He displays good command with the fastball, establishing the zone early on, and works it all around the count. His fastball has good run and touches up to 91mph with a lot of potential to tact on 3-4 more miles per hour.

His changeup sits 83-85mph with good depth and late dropping downward action, staying below the knees, sometimes in the dirt. This pitch forces roll-overs and a ton of dying ground-outs outs. The curveball is probably his out-pitch, and works efficiently, sweeping into the zone, touching the corners, and working low, out of the danger zones.

McGee has improved his pitch ability in-game and has shown great command and confidence. His strikeout to walk ratio has been impressive so far in the California Winter League, striking out 14 and walking only two in 13 innings of work with a 2.69 ERA (February 07, 2024).” – Nick Prasad, Head Scout & Player Advisor
