Saturday, December 9th; took the day before the end of the weekend for the biggest news in Major League Baseball free agency to spill. Free agent Shohei Ohtani has announced his decision to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a very subtle and under-the-radar way.

Just before 2:30 pm Eastern time today, Ohtani posted a white-on-blue Los Angeles Dodgers logo on his Instagram with a long caption announcing his decision. Finally, the wait is over and baseball fans worldwide can put this one to rest and move on with the offseason and the holidays.

Through tons of rubbish on social media, tweets of Ohtani airport spotting, the debate of his dog’s name, and tracking a falsely identified flight, the truth finally came from the source himself.  Ohtani’s deal is labeled at 10-years $700 million to play in Hollywood wearing Dodger blue. The contract has the sports world in disbelief, both in an aweing way and in disappointment.

Regardless, the 2-way legend of the game brings beyond a great deal of attention, skill, competitiveness, and value to any organization he chose. In this case, he decided to stick with a state he was familiar with and not another country and organization. The Dodgers are the home to many greats; celebrities, musicians, and athletes. His decision also encompasses a path to consistent postseason play and a chance to win.

1stoverall will compare and contrast the other option to his current decision.
